Assam cops apprehensions Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani over tweet

Ahmedabad: Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was apprehended by Assam Police from Palanpur community in Gujarat on late Wednesday night over a tweet and taken to Assam by air in the very early hrs, officials claimed right here on Thursday.
The prominent Dalit leader from Gujarat was jailed not long after a First Information Record (FIR) under section 153A of the Indian Penal Code, which handles offenses associated with promoting enmity in between neighborhoods, was registered at Kokrajhar authorities station in Assam, stated his aide Suresh Jat.
“According to a record shared by the officials of the Assam authorities, an FIR has been lodged over a tweet by Mevani couple of days back. Nonetheless, the tweet has been withheld by Twitter. It had to do with Nathuram Godse. Mevani was very first offered Ahmedabad by road and then required to Assam by air very early today morning,” he added.
Mevani is independent MLA from Vadgam seat in Banaskantha. He just recently joined Congress.
In a declaration, Mevani’s workplace said he was jailed by Assam cops from Palanpur circuit Residence at 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
Gujarat Congress head of state Jagdish Thakor and also various other Congress leaders hurried to Ahmedabad Airport after learning more about his apprehension and yelled slogans against the BJP federal government.
